2026 FIAF Honorary Title of Master of Italian Photography (MFI)

The Gian Paolo Barbieri ETS Foundation welcomes with deep gratitude the awarding of the 2026 FIAF Honorary Title of Master of Italian Photography (MFI) to Gian Paolo Barbieri, a recognition that pays tribute to his extraordinary artistic and cultural contribution on an international level.

The conferral of this honor by the Italian Federation of Photographic Associations marks a moment of great significance within the broader appreciation and celebration of Gian Paolo Barbieri’s work.

It also crowns a collaboration launched on the occasion of the exhibition “Gian Paolo Barbieri. A Journey Through the Gaze”, on view until June 2 at CIFA, the Italian Center for Author Photography in Bibbiena, promoted by FIAF and curated by Giovanna Calvenzi and Claudio Pastrone.

The exhibition and the honorary title reflect a shared vision between the Gian Paolo Barbieri ETS Foundation and FIAF: to acknowledge Gian Paolo Barbieri’s central role in the history of contemporary photography and to continue promoting his cultural legacy among the public, institutions, and new generations.

The Master of Italian Photography Honorary Title was officially presented during the 78th FIAF National Congress on May 9, 2026, in Garda (Verona), on the occasion of the Gala Dinner dedicated to the leading figures of contemporary Italian photography.
