Franco Moschino. Ceci n’est pas une exposition

31 October 2026 – 29 March 2027

The journey dedicated to fashion and photography at Forte di Bard began with Gian Paolo Barbieri, the subject of the exhibition Gian Paolo Barbieri. Oltre, and continued in subsequent years with the project devoted to Gianfranco Ferré. Today, this research takes a new direction with Franco Moschino. Ceci n’est pas une exposition, dedicated to one of the most original and unconventional figures in Italian fashion.

From 31 October 2026 to 29 March 2027, Forte di Bard retraces the designer’s career and creative universe through more than 200 photographs, iconic garments, advertising campaigns and archival materials. Set in the exhibition spaces of the Cantine, the exhibition is organised into six thematic sections and explores Moschino’s distinctive approach to fashion, understood as a space for freedom, irony, provocation and reflection on society.

Gian Paolo Barbieri’s work will also feature in the exhibition, with five photographs selected from his archive, four of which are previously unseen portraits of Franco Moschino, presented to the public for the first time. The images come from the photographer’s archive and document the encounter between two pivotal figures in twentieth-century Italian visual culture and fashion: Barbieri, whose photography helped shape the imagery of international fashion, and Moschino, who challenged its conventions and questioned the system itself.

The exhibition is curated by Pier Paolo Pitacco in collaboration with Catia Zucchetti, with critical contributions by Giuseppe Mastromatteo.
