Lo sguardo restituito – una storia del ritratto

March 31 - July 24, 2022
Santa Giulia Museum, Brescia

During the Brescia Photo Festival, an initiative promoted by the Municipality of Brescia and the Brescia Museums Foundation in collaboration with Ma.Co.f, Gian Paolo Barbieri will take part, from March 31 to July 24, 2022, in one of the exhibitions promoted: Lo sguardo restituito – una storia del ritratto, curated by Renato Corsini.

In its fifth edition, the event will focus on The Forms of the Portrait, again presenting Brescia as one of the driving forces of this art through a perspective on the history of Italian and international photography. The Santa Giulia Museum will serve as the exhibition centerpiece of the event, but many other venues within the city walls will also host various initiatives.

“Brescia Photo Festival has become a major event, highly anticipated by all photography lovers and greatly appreciated by professionals,” declares the Mayor of Brescia, Emilio Del Bono. “The event, born in 2017 from a far-sighted intuition by Renato Corsini, whom I supported with great enthusiasm, has enjoyed considerable public success in recent years. For Brescia, it is a successful venture that demonstrates the city’s ability to compete with ambitious challenges in the field of art. This year’s edition, dedicated to the fascinating and exciting theme of the portrait, will host events of great appeal, such as the monographic exhibition dedicated to the Weston dynasty and the exhibition curated by Renato Corsini on the occasion of the centenary of Pier Paolo Pasolini’s birth.”
