MY NAME MY STYLE

November 18th 2017 – February 10th 2018
29 ARTS IN PROGRESS gallery, Via San Vittore 13, Milan, Italy

Gian Paolo Barbieri participates in My Name Is Style, an exhibition presented in Milan at 29 ARTS IN PROGRESS gallery, Via San Vittore 13, from November 18th 2017 to February 10th 2018.

The exhibition brings together five masters of international photography—Gian Paolo Barbieri, Lucien Clergue, Greg Gorman, William Klein, and Amedeo M. Turello—in a journey exploring the many expressions of contemporary style through the photographic medium. The project introduces a new exhibition format, intended to be presented annually within the Photo Vogue Festival, fostering a dialogue among leading voices in the global photographic community.

Within this context, Gian Paolo Barbieri’s work plays a central role in tracing the evolution of fashion photography and portraiture as a language of aesthetics and symbolism. His visual research moves between seduction and provocation, myth and elegance, producing images in which photography becomes a suspended universe between reality and imagination.

His photographs, both theatrical and visionary, explore the construction of the image as an object of desire, inviting the viewer into a complex system of signs and references. The photographic surface becomes a narrative and sensorial space, where style is not mere decoration but the very structure of visual language.

My Name Is Style brings together iconic works and powerful portraits that have marked the history of 20th-century photography and continue to inspire generations of contemporary artists and photographers, offering a reflection on the relationship between image, aesthetics, and visual identity.
