The Gian Paolo Barbieri Foundation Meets Students from IULM University
Two groups of students, accompanied by Professor Roberto Da Pozzo, took part in an educational visit to the Foundation, conceived as an opportunity for in-depth study and reflection on the role of imagery in fashion culture. Within the framework of its social mission, the Foundation plays a crucial role in transmitting Italian photographic culture and preserving the visual memory of a generation of artists, photographers, and designers who are gradually passing away, offering young people the chance to engage with a way of thinking and creating that arises from direct contact with reality and from analog creativity.
In particular, the experience made it possible to closely explore the work and method of Gian Paolo Barbieri, highlighting the aesthetic vision that characterizes his practice.
A central moment of the visit was access to the archive: through the direct observation of original materials, the students were able to grasp the complexity of the creative process, understanding how each image results from a balance between artistic intuition, visual research, and technical control. The variety of media also provided an opportunity to reflect on the evolution of photographic languages and on the ways in which photography contributes to shaping imaginaries, styles, and identities.
The visit proved to be not only a learning opportunity but also a source of creative inspiration, encouraging a more aware reading of the aesthetic and communicative dynamics that run through the world of fashion and contemporary visual representation.
